Day 6/100
Today has started well so far. Marmite sandwiches for breakfast (which was actually at breakfast time, shock horror!!!!) and I am about to make some pasta and pasta sauce with some of the leftover tomatoes etc that we have in the fridge. And dinner tonight is going to be a meatball concoction with some pork mince I got out of the freezer, but (as I am very fussy over mince) I have got some smoked haddock out of the freezer which I plan to have with salad and some brown bread and butter. Yum!
Most weeks we get a vegetable box from the 5 a day people. It costs us £24 something or other, and it really does have enough fruit and vegetables for the week, with some leftover. I have done abel and cole, and a couple of others, but I always cost too much and I had to supplement it throughout the week, which kind of defeats the purpose of it. I have an allotment, which I love, but we are getting to the time of the year where not much comes off it, and I get so bored with the same carrots, broccoli and potatoes from Tesco!! I know Aldi is cheaper, but this is nicer and I like to think that more of the money I am paying goes back to the farmer, because growing vegetables can be bloody hard work. So we are waiting in today for our box, and I am like a little kid with a surprise bag!!! Hopefully lots and lots of delicious vegetables for the week ahead. But no more avocado. Last week I had 3 avocado, and nobody at our house eats it. I made a face mask and a hair mask out of it, which was nice, but I am still cleaning the bathroom. Please no more avocado.

mmmm chips
Day 5/100
Today started off with the huge anxiety of getting our puppy spayed. What a disaster? We are new to dog owning, and when I booked the appointment with the vet, I was asked if she had had her first season, and if so when. I told them July or August, as it was with her previous owner, and would that be alright timings wise. I was told that it would be fine, not a problem, see you on January 5th.
So this morning after much waiting around with a stressed dog and 2 stressed children the vet appears and tells me it is too close to when they expect her next season to be so they won't do it!!! Urgh, so cross. I have purposefully kept this week empty and free,
Anyway, this had a detrimental effect on my diet today. Breakfast was skipped in my anxiety and panic, and in my fury and frustration I ended up at the zoo supplementing my homemade packed lunch with a bag of chips!!! And then I was really cross with myself.
So today was a minor blip. But for dinner the children had homemade chicken vegetable soup and husband and I had leftover beef stew and mash after swimming lessons!!!
Praying for a less stressful day tomorrow!!!.

Last day of the holidays
Day 4/100
I have had a lovely day with an allotment trip (the first in months) and a I got a load of sewing done.
So breakfast was a slice of homemade Christmas cake at about 11 am post allotment (I am getting worse at breakfast). Lunch wasn't much better with a marmite butty at about 3.30.
However dinner was my absolute favourite ever. I made a beef casserole in my slow cooker. It was made with some diced beef from the reduced counter, and onion from the allotment store, a handful of mushrooms, a swede that had been languishing in the veg basket for a while, and freshly harvested carrots, parsnips and leeks. All of this was slowly cooked with a couple of beef stockcubes, a bay leaf and some worcestershire sauce. I served it with freshly picked sprouts, homemade dumplings and a couple of slices of bread for gravy dip!!!
And there is enough left over for tomorrow with mash!!!

Family dinner
Day 3/100
Today was a funny sort of day as we were travelling to my Mum and Dad's house for a belated New Years dinner. My parents live a 2 hours drive from us, which isn't so bad, but does have to be organised around 2 under 5's and a puppy, which makes it a bit more complicated.
So breakfast was skipped by me (I get anxious at long journeys and will feel unwell if I eat), but husband and children had some leftover homemade bread with some jam made in the summer with allotment veg.
Lunch was at my Mum's which I don't think ruins the whole "homemade for 100 days idea" as it was homemade, just not by me for a change. And I dare anyone to turn down my Dad's Roast Beef and yorkshire puddings. It was served with cauliflower cheese, carrots, peas, parsnips and roast potatoes and gravy, with trifle for pudding. Delish. I even skipped the after lunch chocolates doing the rounds!!!
My Mum and Dad have chickens, and gave us a box of eggs to take back with us, so tea was a boiled egg and toast soldiers.
A really nice day!!!

Takeaway day
Day 2/100
Today is the sort of day which is generally known as a takeaway day. Friday night, my husband has a gig, I am alone with the kids asleep pondering the fact that I very rarely get a night out!!! It is generally accompanied by a burger, chips and a side order of self loathing.
But not today. It helps that it is still the holidays so I am not feeling completely burnt out from flying solo with the kids all week, and it also helps that there is loads of roast pork and gravy left from yesterday.
So today - I skipped breakfast. I am so naughty. It is these lazy mornings, but if I am to get on with Slimming World again I need to get on with breakfast.
Lunch was a marmite sandwich and fruit, so not too bad (even if my horrible family went to McDonalds).
But dinner. This is the special one. Leftover Roast pork, heated through in the leftover gravy, piled onto home made seeded rolls, with stuffing and apple sauce, accompanied by a salad. Not very slimming world, but much nicer than a greasy burger.

New Years Day
Day 1/100
Not a bad day today. An excess of Chinese food last night means I skipped breakfast this morning, but made porridge for the Chicklets. I made it a little fancy with a chopped apple, a spoon of home made mincemeat, a dash of cinnamon and some brown sugar. I may have gone OTT with the quantities though, as they ploughed their way through the bowls but the level didn't appear to diminish an any way. Hey ho!!!
Lunch was left over bolognaise and a mince pie. I even resisted the chocolates doing the rounds of the sitting room.
This Evenings piece d'resistance is Roast pork with crackling, roast potatoes (in goose fat) roast parsnips, carrots, spouts, peas, stuffing (from a pack oops!!!) and homemade apple sauce. It smells delish - the meat is due out of the oven at any moment. And if we can stomach it, home made Christmas cake for pudding!! It is a good job I am going back to Slimming World next week. I am getting chubbier than normal.
All in all success. The key to good cracking is enough salt to give you a heart attack. But we only have it twice a year at most, and so plan to enjoy it to the full.
Happy New Year to you all. xxx
